Affordable, useful and fun . . . February 4, 2009 G. McFarland (Sacramento, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having used a professional model at work, this low-priced little gadget caught my eye and I'm happy it did. It is accurate enough for personal uses around the home, on the trail or around camp. I checked mine against two other thermometers of higher accuracy and it came within a degree every time. It is easy to read from bright sunlight to middle-of-the-night. Takes a little getting used to remembering how quickly the "cone" widens at a 1:1 ratio, but otherwise no complaints. Happy to have it in my pocket or my tool box.
Great Little Tool January 31, 2009 redd (OK, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Great Little Tool - I have other infrared thermometers - this one is very small and seems to be accurate when compared with other temperature measuring devices. Real handy when checking cooking temperatures, checking for air leaks around door and windows, checking for insulating quality of windows, checking heating and cooling systems, etc. Inexpensive, and arrived real quick.
Not Impressed January 31, 2009 W. M. Renshaw (Crowley, TX United States) 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
The item is very simple, it tells the temperature. It does not have a laser pointer as the others I've used to it is hit and miss on what you're pointing towards. It works well but is too small and plain.

good for the price September 22, 2008 Michael B. Brand (San Antonio, TX United States) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is a handy device that works well for the price. I find it is great for checking temperature of wine in the glass, quick ear-temp checks (which run lower than oral), and checking pan temps. It was also interesting to learn just how hots our bulbs burn (including compact fluorescent). It is small enough to fit in a pocket and has a handy auto-off feature.
It does have some limitations. Because of the conical surface area measurement, the size of the area being measured must be smaller than your distance from it. The max temp of around 450F sometimes limits its utility for cooking.
