Product Description
"So far as we know EVP can only be heard by playing magnetic recordings. But how did they get there, especially since no one heard anything at the time the recording was made? The EVP Listener converts magnetic signals directly into their audible counterpart... allowing anyone to listen to magnetic signals as they occur. Of course, it can be very useful for tracing man-made EMF from wiring and appliances and because 50/60 Hz fields have distinctive and recognizable sounds, it is easy to distinguish them from less ordinary sources. Completely portable. Includes sensor and amplifier. " THIS IS THE QUOTE FROM THE COMPANY THAT PUTS THIS TOGETHER Use for communicating with the paranormal, hearing ufos, ghosts, angels, or psychic disturbances. Includes headphones for private listening. Requires 9v battery which is not included.

3 out of 5 stars EVPs maybe. Electrical wiring most definate.   February 7, 2010

I asked for this item for Xmas. I was intrigued by the claim and the theory behind it. I've been collecting EVPs for five years using an expensive Olympus Digital recorder. 'Spirits' (for lack of a better word) ostensibly have an affinity with electromagnetic fields, hence 'they' can manipulate the electronics of, say my recorder, to imprint 'their' vocal impressions upon. The EVP Listener is basically a Radio Shack mini-amplifier, set of headphones, and a plug-in sensor which "listens" for electro-magnetic dischargers. If you plug the sensor into the amp and hold it up to your house's walls (particularly near outlets and light switches), you can hear the electricity behind the wall giving off a sort-of buzzing sound. Hence, the theory (from what I can extrapolate) is that 'spirits' can manipulate these electro-magnetic fields and produce vocalizations through the sensor. I haven't used it yet for EVP work, but the principle seems sound. If nothing else, you'll always know where there's wiring behind your walls. I invite any and all Paranormal Investigators to try this method and report their findings on Amazon (if they buy it from them). It would indeed contribute to the wealth of knowledge concerning the unknown. If it works well, a real-time conversation with 'the dead' may actually be possible!!!

I don't know if the item actually works (I got it to give as a gift)but I was very disappointed with the packaging. I recieved a packaged pair of headphones and a boxed amplifier. The EVP was just tossed into the shipping box (not even in a bag) with a printed paper insert. At first, I thought they had sent the wrong items! I had to get my own box and package it so the person recieving it wouldn't be more confused than I was. It made a great gift, but I'm not sure if it actually works or not...
Cool idea for the price--

We tried it but we need more attachments for it to work, like a microphone instead of the telephone attachment. But I still have my hopes up that we will get good results from it.
